Art with no seasoning has no purpose. Becoming a man of faith has inspired me to generously season my sculptures and pottery to reflect the truths of the Gospel. Using clay to delicately hand build vases I explore themes of sanctification and redemption. Through minimal forms I seek to express the spiritual narratives of the Christian faith, inviting contemplation and connection in my sculpture. Though my ceramic and sculptural differ in design, I engage the viewer with sophisticated color palettes to reflect contemporary understandings of faith. Ultimately, my work is a prayer that encourages others to encounter the divine and reflect on their own spiritual journeys.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” - Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)
